Cheryl Nelson

METEOROLOGIST CHERYL NELSON serves as an enthusiastic FEMA-certified instructor at the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC), sharing insights and expertise in courses that encompass Climate Adaptation, Coastal Hazards, Flooding, Hurricane, Tornado, and Winter Weather hazards and awareness. Cheryl is also the visionary behind Prepare with Cher, LLC, where expertise in natural disaster and travel preparedness takes center stage. As the founder and owner, Cheryl brings a wealth of expertise as a TV Host, Broadcast Meteorologist, and seasoned Public Speaker. Specializing in equipping the public for various weather conditions and natural disasters, Cheryl ensures readiness for travel, regardless of the forecast. Widely respected in her field, Cheryl has made appearances on major TV networks, including the TODAY Show, BBC World News, Fox News Channel/Fox Weather, News Nation, The Weather Channel, and The AccuWeather Network. Presently, she hosts the nationally aired TV show "Main St. Living" on Cox Cable's YurView Network. Certified by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), Cheryl actively contributes to severe weather education, reaching millions nationwide through impactful satellite media tours, tv interviews and social media. Involved in her industry, Cheryl held the position of the 2020 AMS Broadcast Board Chair, and was a longstanding board member on Penn State's College of Earth & Mineral Sciences Alumni Board. Kyle Nelson

Kyle Nelson is an Educator and Connector with field and classroom experience bridging Emergency Management, Meteorology and Telecommunications. Based in Aspen, Colorado, he serves as a Telecommunications Project Engineer & Trainer with Pitkin County, Winter X Games Coordinator and Mountain Weather Forecaster at Buttermilk Mountain, and Planning Section Chief for the Pitkin County and Northwest Colorado Type 3 Incident Management Teams. He has been leading weather, climate, social media and planning courses with NDPTC for over 10 years. Kyle's experience in Local, State and Federal agency response to disasters is combined with skills in community emergency planning, digital media engagement and monitoring, large-venue event planning and operations, and 911 dispatching. He has planned, facilitated and evaluated exercises from local planning workshops to full-scale airport triennials. Kyle brings unrivaled enthusiasm and passion to the classroom, delivering a rich and engaging vision for communicating effectively with communities, understanding weather and climate hazards that threaten them, and designing strategies to build resilience.
