DMHA - Disaster Management Humanitarian Assistance Students Receive Certificate at UH Manoa

The Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance Graduate Certificate program at the University of Hawaii Manoa celebrated its Spring 2015 graduates (also the 12th graduating class) at the NDPTC Third Thursday event
There were 12 graduates this semester and their capstone projects ranged from:
• Community Based Earthquake Risk Reduction
• Land Use Planning in Tsunami Hazard Mitigation (or Impact of Climate Change on Pacific Islands
• Disaster Preparedness for Honolulu's LEP Population
• The Role of Bicycles in Disaster Response, Recovery and Mitigation
The graduates are uniquely situated because of their
interdisciplinary skill sets and were concurrently pursing PhD and
Master degrees in Public Administration, Geology and Geophysics,
Education Technology and Urban and Regional Planning respectively. Dr.
Dolores Foley and Dr. Karl Kim gave the graduates each a lei, and more
importantly, their DMHA Graduate Certificates on Wednesday,
ending the Food Security talk on a celebratory note before moving on to
the pau hana festivities in the courtyard Saunders Hall.
