// Course Description

Course Title: Natural Disaster Awareness for Community Leaders (AWR-310)
Status: FEMA Certified. This course is now listed in the FEMA National Training and Education Division (NTED) Catalog.
Description:

Community leaders have the opportunity to enhance their community’s ability to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against all forms of disasters. This course helps to enhance understanding of natural disasters, risk assessment in the context of disaster management, prevailing emergency management procedures and operations, and the different vulnerability factors that exist within the community.

This course also provides community leaders with an understanding of the necessary plans and tools needed in planning for natural disasters, and will help them to better understand and identify individuals and groups best equipped to address response and recovery requirements in the case of an actual disaster.

Max Enrollment: 30 - 40 participants
Test Requirements:
  • Pre-test to be completed PRIOR to the course. Assists to assess familiarity with the course subject material.
  • Post test to be completed at completion of course. To receive a FEMA issued Certificate of Completion, a post test score of at least 70% must be obtained.
Costs: The cost of developing and delivering training is covered by a cooperative agreement with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). There is no cost to the individual for taking the course. we do not cover the cost of travel or lodging to attend training.
